Deepest condolences

It was a shock for me to read this terrible announcement. I saw him a week ago and to lear this it’s really unbelievable. I knew Moreno from 40 years and he has always been a kind person , ready to give his support to everyone and to the bicycles industry , business in which he was completely involved , fighting with determination and great passion. So sorry for him and for all of us, we lost a great person. My personal deepest condolences .

The nestor of the bicycle ecosystem

When I entered the worldwide bicycle ecosystem 12 years ago Moreno directly stood out as the nestor of the sector. He knew everybody, and everybody loved him for who he was and how he engaged everybody around him. His knowledge in combination with his skills to connect topics and people, made him the perfect advocate for the sector. Not only externally towards the authorities, but also within the sector. And nobody had a better understanding of what the “hospitality” means.

Although his passing is extremely sad for his family and the bicycle world, he was just able to witness the adoption of probably the 2 biggest achievements he contributed so much to: the European Declaration on Cycling and the Mobility Transition Pathways. The sector has lost a great advocate. I have lost a good friend, and mentor into the bicycle world.

Thank you Moreno and rest peacefully

A great bike-gladiator pasted away

Dear Friend,

With a warm, nostalgic feeling I cherish the memories of the evenings in Brussels when we prepared the discussions with the European Commission in our Italian Headquarters Pizzeria and the time when we took the plunge together and went to the United Nations in Geneva to argue for a speed-pedelec helmet. You were a truly passionate front man for the bicycle industry. You will be missed. We wish Sonia and your family a lot of strength in coping with this great loss.

Ciao Gladiator.

Deepest condolences

Moreno was the representative of the bicycle industry in Europe and under his passionate and driven leadership, he has done the industry a great service. He was present in every meeting in more than one way. Professional at first, but charming and social a good second and maybe even more important. With his many years of experience, he took the time to familiarize newcomers in the bicycle industry and the political playing field of the EC. He was always willing to help you with any question at any time. Accessible and friendly despite the important files he worked on himself.

His contribution to our industry and his warm personality will never be forgotten.

Heartfelt condolences

It was to our greatest sorrow to learn the passing of Moreno, who had just sent us a cheerful CNY greeting and we’re all so looking forward to seeing him again in Taipei.

His kindness, generosity and tireless efforts in building a deeper collaboration between the EU and the Taiwan bike Industries will always be remembered, and we are grateful for all the engagement and work he had done with and for TBA. It was our great loss to lose a kindred friend and partner. We will miss him dearly and the good times we shared together.

In mourning of the loss of a fantastic gentleman

I’ve gotten to know Moreno through his oldest son, Antonio. Ever since the first time I’ve met Moreno in Germany, I was truly inspired and captivated by his energy, positivity, passion, and immense kindness towards all those around him. Moreno spoke with a delightful force that would spring anyone into action, and his gentle caring nature was a balm to anyone’s soul. Every time I met with Moreno, he was shining with passion to inspire others, honour, and grace. This world will never be truly the same without him.

However, his legacy is to be carried in the equally capable hands of his two sons, Antonio and Elio. As a witness to Moreno’s greatness, I will always stand in support of Antonio and Elio so that I, along with many others Moreno has positively influenced, can continue to commemorate Moreno’s honour. May he rest in peace with all the legends, sharing the stories of his good fights and spreading his ever-so-bright, infectious laughter. I will miss him dearly.

Siwon Kim

I’ve known him personally through his elder son. He was one of the most truly generous people I’ve had the chance to meet.

I’ll never forget Moreno’s kindness, his captivating banter and his contagious passion for life which always motivated you to follow through with your ideas, no matter how audacious they might have been. I’ll always think of him with love and to his family I offer all of my sympathy during this taxing time…

Deepest condolences

During my 25 years in the international bike business as Bike Europe editor I have met Moreno many times in a wide variety of locations and events. He was always very approachable and open. And if a subject was too confidential to discuss he just made that clear. I remember one occasion in Taipei where he was meeting the chair og the China Cycle Association. He invited me to join the meeting for a photo. This meeting turned out to be the start of the dumping procedure of the EU against the import of China made e-bikes. I will remember Moreno as a professional throughout, but for all as a very likeable person.

Moreno, smutek i żal

Zawsze w ciekawej formie. Moreno, zostajesz w naszej pamięci.

𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶 - and we all miss him!

We are deeply shocked. Moreno Fioravanti was always there! Always, because he has been working in the bicycle industry for 40 years. He has worked for our umbrella organization Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry - CONEBI in Brussels since the 1990s, and for EBMA from 2003. As an employee, general secretary and most recently president, he efficiently protected the German and European bicycle industry against dumping and unfair competition and made great progress for our industry in all regulatory issues in Brussels. Moreno was always there because he was always “on duty”, always approachable, always well informed, always helpful. It's legendary how with him, on the sidelines of some reception, you were immediately immersed in the topics and details of an important project that was central to the industry. And almost at the same time, the information arrived in your own inbox from one of his numerous laptops and telephones. At the same time he was a humanitarian, could enjoy good food and good wine, and was – in the best sense of the word – an old-school gentleman. Board, presidium and team of ZIV and the entire German bicycle industry know what they owe to Moreno Fioravanti. We will always remember him with gratitude.

Burkhard Stork, Anke Schäffner, Tim Salatzki, Katharina Hinse and the whole ZIV-Team

Thank you !

I will always remember Moreno as an open, varm and friendly person who was passionate by the Bicycle industry. Among other things, Moreno introduced me to many new persons and important subjects in our industry. Thank you for everything!

Precious memories

I am deeply saddened at the passing of Moreno. He was not only a great leader but an inspiration for his determination, persistence and integrity. He was always there for me in difficult times. This I will never forget. His passion for fine food and wine was uncanny. I miss his humor, ability to operate multiple phones and computers at one time, cheerful laugh and sincere compassion for others. I cherish our friendship and will alway remember……

R.I.P. Moreno

I was shocked to hear the news on Sunday while skating with my daughter. "Daddy, daddy, what happened?" she asked, and it took me minutes to respond. "A friend of mine passed away, and he was only 62." I had known him for over 25 years, ever since he created the Vuelta products. We met many times all around the world, partied together at exhibitions and beyond. He was always full of energy, which was contagious. He did everything with full dedication and energy. Why do the good ones always leave us too soon? Rest in peace, my friend!

Condolences

The environmental section of the Department of civil and environmental engineering at Politecnico di Milano is profoundly shaken by the premature death of Moreno Fioravanti, President of EBMA, with whom fruitful technical-scientific collaborative relationships had been established since many years on the topics of the environmental impacts of the production of bicycles. We therefore join in the condolences of his family, friends and colleagues.

My condolences

Dear Sonia, Honorable Fioravanti Family, Dear friends and colleagues of the global Bicycle Family. Let me express my deepest sympathies to the passing away of my friend Moreno Fioravanti. The sad news arrived when I was far away in Swiss Alpine’s nowhere, and my mourning was confronted with the overwhelming power of nature. But due to these circumstances, this makes me absent now this very day. Hence my personal pain is doubled. Moreno was much more than a friend or colleague in Brussels cycling advocacy or globally. Moreno was a brother in kind for several good reasons:

• Moreno had a sense for valuable paradigm shifts that necessarily took place in the beginning of this millennium. In particular by:

• Acknowledging ECF’s cycling advocacy when we prepared and celebrated Velo-city 2009 in Brussels,

• Proceeding with our strategic collaborations for an antidumping campaign in 2010. • Immediately understanding surprisingly-not-surprisingly the impact of the precautionary principle for cycling advocacy and lobby work. • When I introduced Cycling Economy at Velo-city 2011 Seville, Moreno was a strong and first hour supporter.

• In the business community Moreno gave a strong voice to the Active Mobility paradigm also started in 2011, to unleash the inherent impact for all of us.

• Subsequently, Moreno became one of the strong supporters of cycling and Active Mobilities contributions to the United Nations Global Goals, and sustainable mobilities development in general – always looking for sustaining economic benefits.

This expresses that Moreno Fioravanti was an ally joining and supporting our strategies for almost two decades, sometimes in congenial thinking and motivating other multipliers. Therefore let me state: Global bike business and European cycling advocacy now lost parts of its most valuable brain – but – good luck: Moreno left behind specific traces, particularly

• In cycling industries with bicycle lobby work and joining forces with cycling advocacy.

• And stabilizing European businesses by bridging Asia and Europe actively with Conebi and as EMBA president.

• Also we are pleased to honor him as one of the fathers of CIE. These merits will count forever.

Manfred G. Neun - Honorary ECF President

Mark and I would never forget the New Year we all had with you and Sonia at the beach at the end of 2006 and the new year's day of 2007 in Sorrento. We had great homemade pasta and good wine you picked from just a random grocery shop near where we stayed. However, we were at the time poor students in the UK. To us, such a cozy night at the beach with fireworks, good friends, good wine and fun chats was a total luxury to us. We spent a fantastic time with you and Sonia along the coast of southern and central Italy that winter break before we flew back to continue our studies. That trip was very much memorable in our hearts. Our deepest condolences to my dearest Sonia, Elio and your beloved family. Rest in peace.

Moreno was a force of nature and an inspiration to all of us who wanted to support European industry in the face of unfair competition from China.

I will miss his laugh, his sincerity and drive to do the right thing. He was a truly great man. If we had more Europeans like Moreno we would be world champions in everything. I really value the years we spent working together. Rest in Peace Moreno.

REST IN PEACE DEAR MORENO

As a relatively "young" comer in the bike industry, only 10 years ago, I can only say that I feel sincerely extremely thankful to Moreno. A great Man who did a lot for our industry, with devotion ans always great amability. Without Moreno, we may not just exist! He called us, the french team, the musketeers! I am sure he had also good names for other teams in other european countries. Rest in Peace, dear Moreno.

Since the day I had a chance to meet Moreno in person, I have thought about him each time EU bike industry was mentioned.
